SUNNYVALE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—April 3, 2006— VaST Systems Technology Corporation -- powering embedded design innovation -- today announced the availability of a high-performance, high-accuracy VaST model of StarCore's SC2400 processor. Virtual processor models (VPM) are at the heart of the VaST virtual system prototype which is a very high performance software simulation-based model of a system on a chip (SoC).

"VaST and StarCore share many common customers. Our close working relationship enables VaST to provide a virtual model of StarCore's processors soon after they are available in the marketplace. Our mutual customers use the VaST virtual processor model for architecture analysis and optimization, and then for early software development," said Alain Labat, VaST's president and CEO.

VaST VPMs are fast and cycle-accurate, running at speeds of up to 200 MIPS on off-the-shelf PCs. A VaST VPM is configurable and provides an unprecedented ability to observe the behavior of executing software and selected processor internal registers. The SC2400 represents the third StarCore processor modeled by VaST, following the SC1200 and SC1400.

"VaST provides very important technology to StarCore customers," said Alex Bedarida, StarCore's general manager, "The VaST virtual system prototype containing VaST's virtual StarCore model helps our customers tune the SoC architecture in which our processor will function. The fast simulation-based model of the SoC enables customers to begin software development six to nine months before chip tape-out. This is a huge competitive advantage for customers."

VaST will be demonstrating its newest tools and extensive library of VPMs at the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley in San Jose from April 2nd to 6th. Visit VaST in booth number 330. For more information about the conference, please see http://www.http://www.esconline.com/sv.

About VaST

VaST Systems Technology Corporation tools and models enable the creation of a virtual system prototype -- a cycle-accurate software model of a system that operates at near real-time speeds under actual software loads. Solutions from VaST are used for architecture analysis and optimization and for the concurrent development of hardware and software. VaST virtual system prototypes dramatically improve time to market and quality while reducing development costs and risk.

Current customers include worldwide leaders in semiconductors, automotive electronics, wireless devices, and consumer electronics. VaST is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California with sales and support offices worldwide. For more information, visit www.vastsystems.com.
